Hoje é o dia em que Robert Zimmerman, mais conhecido como Bob Dylan, completa 70 anos de idade.

Com mais de 40 álbuns lançados desde 1964, o cantor folk serviu de grande influência para todos os grandes artistas que surgiriam do meio da década de 1960, pra frente. Beatles, Stones, Bowie – todos reverenciam o mestre. Seu maiores êxitos comerciais são o álbum The Freewheelin’ Dylan (1964), número um nas paradas do Reino Unido, em 1964; o single “Like a Rolling Stone”, que alcançou a segunda posição das paradas nos Estados Unidos em 1964; o single “Lay Lady Lay”, número cinco na Grã-Bretanha em 1969 e, mais recentemente, o disco Modern Times, de 2006.

Para celebrar essa ocasião tão especial, Ray Padgett (colaborador de sites como SPIN, Mashable, Consequence of Sound, além de autor de uma futura antologia de Dylan) preparou uma coleção das melhores covers já feitas com as canções do poeta. Se prepara, porque será uma longa série de versões, que vão da letra A até o Z.
